Snow Is Back! (But so are the changes)

In continuing with the many ups and downs of this winter, we are excited that snow is back and racing is a go, but with that comes more changes to the schedule. Make sure you read the whole newsletter, so you don't miss any important details.

Though we are not able to offer a normal full season of racing, we have worked with Boyne to create a plan that fits in as much racing as possible in the remaining scheduled weekends.

We have compiled as much information as we have at this time and future newsletters will continue to provide additional information and changes.

Location Change

At this time, there is not enough snow for us to race on Superbowl or FIS, so we will be racing on North Boyne for the remainder of our races (unless snow conditions change drastically).

Bonus Race & Training on Friday!

We know everyone is eager to race, so we will be holding a bonus/training race on Friday, February 23.

Friday's race will not count for the season, but is meant to be fun and allow everyone to get some training in before Saturday's races.

A Giant Slalom course will be set up on North Boyne, and racers will be able to make as many runs as we can get in before 1pm. No work assignments are required for Friday, but we plan to slip between each run and will need all racers to assist.

We welcome Cary Adgate as our course setter for Friday morning!

He will need some volunteers to assist with course setting, please contact Drew Hilger (Drew.Hilger@gmail.com) if interested.

As normal, the course will be open for inspection at least 30 minutes before the race start.

Racer's are welcome to join Cary Adgate for group inspection at 9:45am. This 2x Olympian, 6x US National Champion, US Ski Hall of Famer and former MACC racer might just have a few tidbits of knowledge to share with us.

A Competitors Meeting will be held at 10am at the top of North Boyne

This meeting is to provide full details for the race/training.

This bonus/training race will be open for guest racing at no cost. More details will be provided in next week's newsletter.

Masters slalom training

Boyne will be holding Master's Training at 2:00PM on Friday, February 23rd and have made it open to MACC racers at no cost.

Boyne is also planning to have Master's training on Thursday, February 22nd, but normal fees will apply.

Friday Schedule

Schedule change for February 24 & 25

In order fit in as much racing as possible in the remaining two weekends, we will be using a similar schedule to the one we had planned for Sunday, February 4.

Two races will be held each day, and two runs will be completed for each race, as long as the course holds up. There will be a 15-minute break between races, to allow for minor course adjustments and timing switches. There will be a minimum 1 hour break between courses.

Please listen closely for announcements regarding changes during races and make sure you follow our Facebook Page for last minute updates and changes throughout the weekend.

Saturday, February 24 will be two races of Slalom, with two runs for each.

Course 1 @ 10am

Course 2 @ 1pm (or 1 hour after Course 1, whichever occurs later)

Sunday, February 25 will be two races of Giant Slalom, with two runs for each.

Course 2 @ 10am

Course 1 @ 12:30pm (or 1 hour after Course 2, whichever occurs later)

A detailed timeline is below.

Course Inspection

Inspection will be open at least 30 minutes before race time. Please check the board at the top for course inspection information.

If the course needs to be adjusted due to conditions, there will be additional inspection time provided between races.  Time will be limited, so please listen for announcements between races.

Work Assignments

One work assignment will be required for all racers this weekend.

All work assignments will include both races for each course (ex. Saturday, Course 1: Race 1 & Race 2, 4 total runs).

If you do not have a work assignment for the day, please listen for requests from the Chief of Course for 'All Racers Slip'. As racer safely is our top priority, we expect there may be additional slips needed to get the course to hold up for 4 runs.

Green Cards or Gate Judge Cards will be required for all racers.

Reminder: Pace Setting does not count as a work assignment.

No work assignments are required for Friday (except slipping and being an MACC ambassador).

Registration

Online registration remains open.

The Registration Desk will be on the main floor of the Civic Center inside the main doors each day. Registration hours will be 8:30-9:00am and 30 minutes starting at the conclusion of the first course of each day (Saturday after Course 1, Sunday after Course 2).

Guest Racing will be available all weekend. More details will be provided in next week's newsletter.

Awards

Awards for races 1 & 2 will be held on Saturday, February 24th, at 5pm in Vienna A in The Mountain Grand Lodge.
